1950s Parisian Styled Shoot: how collaborations create magic

At Donna Dorée®, we strive to celebrate the power and beauty of women through our artistic, elegant jewelry. This mission was perfectly realized in a self-organized Parisian 1950s Styled Shoot, the result of months of preparation and collaboration with a passionate team of professionals. Together, we created a visual spectacle that reflects the essence of Donna Dorée: timeless elegance with a contemporary flair.

The birth of this unique Styled Shoot

The idea for this Styled Shoot emerged from pure enthusiasm. Marcel from SterkZichtbaar was preparing a brand new photoshoot and was looking for a statement piece of jewelry to complete his vision. Through online channels, he discovered the Gaia earrings from Donna Dorée, which he had previously captured in another photoshoot. The connection that followed through LinkedIn led to the expression of a shared passion for creating unique visual content.

During our brainstorming sessions to showcase the jewelry as beautifully as possible, we initially searched for suitable models and a fitting location. With an overwhelming response from models interested in the idea of a Parisian/1950s style — which perfectly aligns with Donna Dorée’s brand — this concept evolved into a larger-scale shoot.

Having previously contributed to a Circus-style Styled Shoot, where I had the opportunity to observe an experienced team, I decided it was time to organize a big unique shoot of my own, but this time in the style of Donna!

With a clear goal and concept in mind, we developed a neat plan, including mood boards (location, ambiance, MUAH, etc.), to guide ourselves and all contributors.

The perfect match: 1950s fashion and Donna Dorée jewelry

The 1950s were known for their elegant and feminine fashion. After the austere war years, people longed for beauty, luxury, and color. The silhouette of this era was characterized by narrow waists, full skirts, and elegant accessories. This style emphasized femininity and allowed every woman to feel like a diva. Think of icons like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, who brought this fashion to life with their timeless charm and class.

At Donna Dorée, we perfectly align with this vision. Our jewelry is designed for women who dare to make a statement by wearing beautiful pieces. The high quality and artistic elegance of our jewelry transform every woman into a 'golden woman' — a Donna Dorée.

The search for the perfect location

One of the biggest challenges in organizing this shoot was finding a location that could replicate the atmosphere of 1950s Paris without actually going to Paris. Eventually, we found it in The Art of You Studio in Dongen, a versatile location where we could create the perfect setting with ample space, light, and props for our visual storytelling. With the styling by Patricia Smulders of Betty Bozz / Urban Bozz, our models looked as if they had stepped straight out of 1950s Paris.

Putting together the Dream Team

The success of this shoot was due to the incredible team we assembled. From talented stage managers and photographers to makeup artists, hairstylists, and cloting and set stylists — everyone brought their best work to the set. The creative synergy and energy were clearly evident in the final result, with each participant making a significant contribution to the magical atmosphere of the day.

Styling, decoration and planning

The styling and decoration of the shoot were crucial in bringing the 1950s look to life. We created moodboards to clearly communicate our concept and prepared a detailed plan to ensure the day ran smoothly. The props we gathered — from vintage telephones and pearl necklaces to a stylish 1950s car — enhanced the authenticity of the setting.

Capturing the magic

The beautiful moments of the shoot were captured by a team of talented photographers and videographers, who immortalized the magic of the day in photos and film. Their work allows us to relive and share this unforgettable experience with our audience.
