Choosing the right ring size is essential for comfort and style. But how do you know which size fits your finger perfectly? Whether you’re buying a ring for yourself or giving it as a gift, this information will help you find the right size.
How do you measure your ring size?
- Measure existing ring: Already have a ring that fits like a glove? Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter. Compare your measurement to the size chart below.
- Finger Circumference Measurement: Don’t have a suitable ring handy? Wrap a piece of string, a strip of paper, or a measuring tape around your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimeters.
-
Ring Sizer: For ultimate precision, use a professional ring sizer or drop by a a jeweler and, for example, have your own ring measured on a ring stick.
💡 Tip: Measure your finger at a normal time of day. Your fingers may be a little thinner in the morning and a little thicker after a hot day.

Can a ring be adjusted?
Sometimes a ring is just too big or too small. Fortunately, many rings can be adjusted by a goldsmith.
💎 Reducing a ring – This involves removing a small piece of precious metal from the band and carefully soldering it back together. This is often easier than resizing a ring.
💎 Enlarging a ring – This can be done by stretching the band a little or adding a piece of precious metal. This is more difficult for rings with many stones or engravings.
Please note: Not all rings can be adjusted. If a ring can be adjusted, it is usually no more than two sizes smaller or larger. Gold and silver rings are usually suitable, but rings with (many) gemstones can be more difficult to adjust, depending on the stone. Inquire about this in advance with your jeweler.

Why Donna Dorée Doesn't Alter Rings
At Donna Dorée we prefer to leave the adjustment of rings to your own local jeweler, so you can be there to discuss your specific wishes.
The fit of a ring depends on several factors, such as the width of the ring band and when you measured your ring size. Perhaps you initially intended to wear the ring on your ring finger, but later discovered that it fits perfectly on your middle finger – and you’ve saved yourself the expense of altering it!
Before placing an order, we recommend that you check with your jeweler whether they expect the ring to fit properly or whether they can adjust it if necessary.
Please note: once a ring has been adjusted elsewhere, your right of return expires.
